Manchester United has officially welcomed Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford, signing him on a long-term contract that runs until 2030, with an option for one additional year.
According to a source close to the negotiations, United paid £65 million (approximately $88 million) to Brentford for the prolific attacker, with potential add-ons worth another £6 million ($8 million).
Record-Breaking Season Earns Big Transfer
The 25-year-old Mbeumo is coming off the most successful season of his career in the English Premier League (2024–25), where he scored 20 goals, helping Brentford secure a respectable 10th-place finish. Only a few elite names — Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23), and Erling Haaland (22) — scored more.
Speaking about the transfer, Mbeumo said:
“The moment I heard Manchester United were interested, I knew I had to make this dream come true. I grew up wearing their shirt — this club means everything to me.”
He also emphasized his hunger to grow further under new United manager Ruben Amorim, adding:
“My mentality is always about improving. I believe I’m ready to push my limits here, playing alongside world-class talent.”
Versatility and Experience Make Mbeumo a Key Addition
Mbeumo, who can play both as a right winger and a centre-forward, was a constant presence for Brentford last season, starting every Premier League match. Since joining the London side from French club Troyes in 2019, he has made 242 appearances, netting 70 goals and registering 51 assists.
United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised the new signing, stating:
“Bryan’s consistency and productivity in recent seasons have been phenomenal. We are thrilled to secure one of our top targets early, allowing him to integrate during the preseason tour.”
Fourth Summer Signing for United
Mbeumo becomes the fourth signing for Manchester United this summer, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and young prospect Enzo Kana-Biyik.
He will now travel with the squad to the United States, where United are set to play three preseason friendlies:
-
July 26 vs West Ham United in New Jersey
-
July 30 vs Bournemouth in Chicago
-
August 3 vs Everton in Atlanta
The tour will give Mbeumo a chance to adapt to the team and prepare for what fans hope will be a successful season ahead.
